High robe dark cherry red, clear and bright, with dark pinkish tones on the edge of the glass. An intense but fresh mentholated aroma with hints of blackberries and cranberries against a balsamic background of "After Eight" chocolate, cedar and liquorice. Well structured and balanced to the palate, with tannins typical of ripe grapes and fine wood. Medium aftertaste reminiscent of noble wood, balsam and liquorice, ensuring a long and elegant bouquet after time in the bottle.
Barón de Oña - The new face of Barón de Oña is that of a rejuvenated Rioja. This terrain is located in Páganos and can boast of having one of the best situations in the Rioja Alavesa. Here the Tempranillo thrives along with its companion grape, the Mazuelo. Sophisticated modern wine-making techniques and improvements in the vinification processes are uncovering new horizons in the aroma and flavour potential of the Tempranillo. While Barón de Oña falls within the tradition of Rioja, with specific wine-making practices it opens the door for a more personal character which is unmistakably its own.
