2008 Matthews Cellars Claret
It was aged in French oak, 50% new, for 20 months. Purple-colored, the wine delivers scents of pain grille, lead pencil, and smoky black currants. This leads to a fleshy wine with gobs of ripe black fruits and well-concealed tannin. There is enough structure for 1-2 years of evolution and it should provide pleasure through 2020.
