Deep red-ruby. Wild aromas of smoked meat, flint and black pepper. Lush on entry, then dry and distinctly idiosyncratic in the middle palate, with flavors of raspberry, pepper and licorice, and the saltiness that often comes with a high pH. Not at all a fruit-driven style of syrah. Long, slowly building finish features very ripe tannins.
