Located on approximately the same latitude (46ºN) as some of the great French wine regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, Washington State is now the second largest wine-producing state in the nation. With over 29,000 acres now planted in vinifera grapes and 170 wineries presently operating within the state, Washington’s wine industry is growing at a robust rate. Strengthened by reputation for producing wines of very high quality, strong sales, international recognition, and statewide consumer demand, the Washington wine industry continues to enjoy rapid growth.
